Helping the Kamba community towards self-sustainance

"Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach him to fish, you feed him for life" - A Chinese proverb

Ngwatanio Ya Mbaitu is a socio-spiritual non-profit organization that promotes sustainable development and economic empowerment in Ukambani through community involvement in the development process. Because of our community-based approach to development, Ngwatanio offers a helping hand instead of a hand out by directly uplifiting, equipping, and touching peoples lives.

Ngwatanio is the Kamba word for unity. The Kamba land is normally associated with drought, famine, and hunger. Part of this is because of unpredictable short rains. Although most of the people are very hardworking, most of them still languish in poverty and struggle to sustain their basic livelihood.

It is out of this need that Ngwatanio was formed with the purpose of uniting the Kambas in the USA and diaspora at large to focus on developing their land of origin. Our purpose is to help the community to tap on their God-given potentialities towards self sustainance. We focus not in giving handouts but in equipping men and women to know how to 'fish for themselves."

There are three areas that we concentrate on: Information technology training, agricultural and water development, and providing business guidance and resources. Read more>>
